RidePoynt Owner Terms (Draft for legal review)
For car owners and the drivers they name. Read together with the RidePoynt Privacy Notice. The owner agreement each owner signs governs over these.
Last updated: 28 Oct 2026 (draft, not in force) Provider: ePoynt Technologies Ltd (RC 9009902), Abuja, Nigeria Scope: RidePoynt — for car owners who post trips between Kano and Abuja, and for the drivers they name.
Read these together with the RidePoynt Terms, which are the rules your travellers accept, and the RidePoynt Privacy Notice.
⚠️ This is a draft for legal review. It is not in force. No owner is listed under it.
⚠️ Where you hold a signed RidePoynt owner agreement with us, that agreement governs. These terms fill what it does not cover. They never narrow it.
In these terms, you means the owner. A driver is you, or a driver you name and we approve. A traveller is a person who travels on a seat booked through RidePoynt.
1. Your role and ours
- You provide the transport. You are the carrier for every trip you post. Your car, your driver and the journey are your responsibility.
- We act as your booking agent. We sell the seats on your trips on your behalf, apply RidePoynt's rules, and arrange for your share of each fare to be paid to you.
- You choose which trips to post and when your car leaves, inside the rules in section 5.
- You are an independent business, not our employee or partner. You employ or engage your driver. Their pay, food and lodging are yours to arrange.
2. Joining RidePoynt
- Apply in RidePoynt with your car, photos of the car, your documents, and any driver you want to name.
- Document check. A person at ePoynt looks at your vehicle licence, roadworthiness certificate, proof of ownership and insurance, and each driver's licence and identification.
- Commercial use. Where the law of a state on the route requires a car that carries paying passengers to hold a commercial or hire registration or permit, you must hold it.
- Insurance. You insure your car, at your own cost, and you are responsible for that insurance. Before your car is listed, it must carry a commercial motor policy for carrying passengers for hire or reward. The policy must cover your travellers against death and bodily injury, and other people and their property (third-party cover), at least to the level the law requires. A private policy that excludes use for hire or reward does not meet this. ePoynt does not insure your car, your driver or your travellers.
- Inspection. A person at ePoynt inspects your car at a place we agree, against the checklist in section 3. They load real bags into the boot to set how much luggage your car can take, in medium bags. A boot that takes fewer than 4 medium bags fails. Each item is photographed.
- Agreement. You sign the RidePoynt owner agreement.
We record who checked what, and when.
Adding a car later. Add it in RidePoynt, with its photos and papers, as in step 1. It can run trips only after we check its papers and inspect it. At that inspection, you sign it into your owner agreement.
Removing a car or a driver. When a car or a driver has no posted trip, you can remove it in RidePoynt.
⛔ We do not confirm your documents with the authority that issued them. We look at what you show us. You are responsible for their being genuine and current.
3. Car standards
Your car must:
- be a car with 4 passenger seats, such as a saloon or a hatchback: 1 in front and 3 at the back;
- have air conditioning that works for the whole journey;
- have 4 working passenger seat belts;
- have a boot that takes at least 4 medium bags, one for each passenger seat;
- have safe tyres, brakes and lights;
- be clean inside and out at every pickup.
We inspect your car again at least every three months. We book each inspection before it is due, and RidePoynt shows the booking. We may also inspect your car after a complaint.
We keep your car's papers and their expiry dates in RidePoynt. A paper is valid until the end of its expiry date. Send us each renewed paper before the old one expires.
A car cannot post or run a trip while:
- one of its papers has expired, or needs a new copy, for example because we cannot read its photo;
- its inspection is late;
- it has failed its last inspection; or
- it has broken down or had an accident, until it passes a new inspection.
If your car breaks down or has an accident, call ePoynt support at once. ePoynt staff then mark the car as unable to run trips.
After a failed inspection, a breakdown or an accident, repair the car, then press "The car is fixed" in RidePoynt. We book a new inspection. When the car passes it, the car can run trips again. For a serious failure, we may end your listing instead (section 9).
4. Drivers
- A driver must be you, or a driver you name and we approve. You can name a driver in your application, or add one later in RidePoynt.
- We need each driver's name, phone number, photo, driving licence and identification.
- Before we approve a driver, the driver meets ePoynt staff in person, with an ID card and the driving licence. Staff take the photo that travellers see. A driver named in your application does this at your car's inspection.
- A driver whose driving licence has expired cannot drive a trip. Add a photo of the new licence in RidePoynt, and we check it.
- Travellers, and the person who books their seats, see the driver's name and photo before pickup. Only an approved driver may drive a RidePoynt trip.
- You are responsible for your driver's conduct on every trip.
5. Posting a trip
When you post a trip, you give the direction, the date, the time the car leaves the city, the car, the driver, and the service areas the driver collects from.
- Pickups start no earlier than 6:00 a.m. The car leaves the city at 7:00 a.m., 7:30 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. RidePoynt offers only these three times, so that every trip arrives in daylight.
- You can post a trip up to 14 days ahead.
- RidePoynt offers a car or a driver only for dates on which they can run. The car's papers and inspection, and the driver's licence, must be current on the date of the trip.
- A car starts where its last trip ends. On the day after a trip, a car's next trip must leave from the city where that trip ends. After a day with no trip, it may leave from either city. A new trip must also end in the city where the car's trip of the next day leaves. A car has at most one trip a day. The same rules apply to each driver.
- A car can have at most 3 trips posted and not yet completed. RidePoynt refuses a fourth until one of them is completed, does not run or is cancelled.
- A posted trip's date, direction and departure time never change. While no seat is sold, you can cancel the trip at no cost and post a new one (section 8).
- You can change the car or the driver until the first pickup, to another of your approved cars or drivers. The first pickup is the moment the driver first presses "Arrived". We send each traveller the new details of the car and the driver on WhatsApp. If you change the driver, we also tell the driver who gets the trip and the driver who loses it, on WhatsApp.
- If the driver's phone had no connection, a press of "Arrived" counts from its time on the phone. If that time is before your change, we undo the change. We tell you, both drivers and the travellers at once, on WhatsApp.
- The price is ₦30,000 per seat, set by RidePoynt. It includes pickup and drop-off inside the service areas.
- Do not ask a traveller for any other money. Every charge goes through RidePoynt.
- A seat a traveller keeps empty for space must stay empty.
- Only ePoynt staff take a seat off sale on a trip, for example when the seat is damaged, or when you ask ePoynt support. Travellers see that seat as "Not for sale", and it is not sold. Only ePoynt staff put it back on sale, for example after a repair, or when you ask ePoynt support.
- On a RidePoynt trip, carry only travellers who booked through RidePoynt.
6. Before and on the day
- At 6:00 p.m. the evening before, bookings close, and a trip is confirmed if 3 or more seats are sold, its car can run trips and its driver can drive. RidePoynt tells you and the driver the result on WhatsApp.
- A trip with fewer than 3 seats sold does not run. Its travellers are moved or refunded. You get no strike, even if the trip's car or driver also could not run it.
- If a trip has 3 or more seats sold, but its car or its driver cannot run it, section 8 applies.
- Until 7:30 p.m. the evening before, travellers from a trip that does not run, or that is cancelled, can move to your confirmed trip. The driver's pickup plan includes them.
- By 8:00 p.m. the evening before, the driver sets the pickup order and a 15-minute pickup window for each traveller in RidePoynt. If the driver has not set them by 8:00 p.m., RidePoynt sends the order and the windows that it suggested, and tells the driver on WhatsApp.
- After 8:00 p.m., only ePoynt support can change the pickup order or a window.
- A trip has at most 4 pickups and 4 drop-offs, one for each traveller. A traveller with an extra seat has one pickup.
- At each pickup, the driver presses "Arrived". The driver's phone records its position once, as evidence for the waiting rules.
- The driver applies the waiting rules in the RidePoynt Terms section 7: a 5-minute grace period, a late fee of ₦500 for each started 5 minutes after it, capped at ₦2,000, and a maximum wait of 20 minutes.
- The driver checks luggage by eye against the sizes travellers declared. If nobody declared a bag, the driver marks its size, and ePoynt charges for it as if the traveller had declared it. The driver may refuse a bag that does not fit, and photographs it.
- The driver records each pickup, the departure and each drop-off in RidePoynt. If the phone has no connection, it keeps each press, with its time, and sends it when the connection returns.
- The driver can open a traveller's map pin in a map app on the driver's phone.
- If the driver's phone recorded no position at "Arrived" and the traveller disputes the late fee within 7 days, ePoynt refunds the fee, and your share of it comes back (section 7).
- To refuse a traveller who is drunk, violent or abusive (RidePoynt Terms section 10), the driver calls ePoynt support. ePoynt staff record the refusal and its reason, and the traveller is a no-show.
- On the day, a traveller may ask for another drop-off landmark inside the destination service area. If the driver agrees, the driver drops the traveller there and records it, at no charge.
- A traveller may ask to get off before the destination, at a place where the car can stop safely. The driver records the drop-off there.
- The driver keeps the air conditioning on for the whole journey.
- At 11:59 p.m. on the day of travel, RidePoynt completes any trip that is still open. The trip's record shows "No drop-off recorded" for a traveller with no drop-off. A kept press that reaches ePoynt later still fills in its time.
If the car stops on the road after a breakdown or an accident:
- The driver stops where it is safe and calls ePoynt support at once. After an accident with injuries, the driver calls the emergency services first. ePoynt staff mark the trip "Stopped on the road", and the car as unable to run trips (section 3).
- If the car is repaired and goes on, the trip continues.
- If it cannot go on, ePoynt support decides so with the driver, no later than 1 hour after the car stopped, or sooner if waiting would bring travellers to their destination after dark. The trip ends there, and every traveller in the car gets a full refund. A traveller who was a no-show still gets none. You pay 80% of the refund, as for every refund, and your part is recovered from your next earnings (section 7).
- Instead, you may take the travellers on in another car that RidePoynt lists, with an approved driver. The trip then continues.
- A breakdown or an accident gives no strike (section 8).
- ePoynt support may also stop a trip on the road when it is not safe to go on, for example after a safety complaint about the driver (section 8). These rules then apply in the same way.
7. Your earnings
- You receive 80% of what travellers pay for your trip: seat fares, luggage charges and late fees. ePoynt keeps 20% as its booking fee. ePoynt's 20% includes any VAT due on it.
- ePoynt pays the Paystack fees out of its 20%.
- How you are paid. At the inspection, you give ePoynt staff a bank account in your own name. ePoynt opens a Paystack subaccount for you, in your name, linked to that bank account. When a traveller pays, Paystack splits the payment: 80% to your subaccount and 20% to ePoynt. ePoynt does not hold your share.
- You are paid every business day. A business day is any day except a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday. Paystack pays each day's share into your bank account on the next business day. So a payment made on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday reaches you on Monday, unless Monday is a public holiday.
- Changing your bank account. Come to ePoynt staff in person, with your ID card. A phone call, a WhatsApp message or an email cannot change it, because a person who takes over your SIM card could send one. ePoynt records each change, with the staff member's name and the date.
- Your first payout. Paystack holds the first payout to a new subaccount until ePoynt checks the subaccount. ePoynt staff check it when they open it, and again after each change to your bank account. The check confirms that the account's name, as your bank gives it, matches yours. Paystack then pays on the next business day.
- Refunds. You pay 80% of each refund, and ePoynt pays 20%, the same split as the fare. For example, a ₦15,000 refund takes ₦12,000 from your share and ₦3,000 from ePoynt's.
- Recovery. Because you are paid daily, you may already hold a traveller's fare when a refund falls due, for example when a trip does not reach 3 seats. Your part of the refund is then recovered from your next earnings. From each later payment for your trips, ePoynt keeps half of your share, as well as its own 20%, until your part is repaid. Every recovery shows on your statement.
- Moved travellers. If a traveller moves from your trip to another owner's trip, your share for that seat is recovered the same way. If a traveller moves to your trip from another owner's trip, ePoynt pays you 80% of what they paid for the seat and their luggage. ePoynt pays it on the next business day after the trip is completed. If the trip does not run, ePoynt pays nothing for that traveller.
- You see a statement for each trip and for each settlement. ePoynt invoices you for its booking fees once a month.
- You are responsible for your own tax on your earnings.
8. Cancellations and strikes
- You can cancel a posted trip in RidePoynt. If no seat is sold, it costs nothing. If a seat is sold, we move or fully refund its travellers, and you get a strike. This applies before and after the trip is confirmed.
- Three strikes in 90 days suspend you from posting trips. A strike counts until it is more than 90 days old. Your suspension ends by itself when fewer than 3 strikes count, and RidePoynt shows you that date. Trips you posted before the suspension still run.
- To dispute a strike, call or email us (section 12). After a review, we may remove it.
- A safety complaint about a driver suspends that driver at once, while we review it. A trip the driver has already started runs to its end, unless ePoynt support stops it on the road (section 6).
- If a trip's car cannot run trips, or its driver cannot drive, change them by 6:00 p.m. the evening before (section 5). Otherwise we cancel the trip at 6:00 p.m., and move or fully refund its travellers. If the problem starts after 6:00 p.m., you have until the first pickup window opens. Then we cancel the trip.
- When we cancel a trip for its car or its driver, the cause decides the strike. It does not matter whether you had another car or driver.
- A failed inspection gives a strike.
- A paper that needs a new copy after the trip is posted counts as a failed inspection, and gives a strike.
- A driver's suspension gives no strike, because our review is not finished.
- A breakdown or an accident, before or during a trip, gives no strike.
- A trip with fewer than 3 seats sold at 6:00 p.m. does not run and gives no strike, whatever the state of its car or driver (section 6).
- Travellers rate each trip. We may review an owner or a driver whose ratings or complaints show a pattern.
9. Ending
- We may end your listing at once if you, your driver or your car is found wanting, for example at a re-inspection, on an expired paper or insurance, on a safety complaint we uphold, or for fraud or a breach of these terms. We then cancel your posted and confirmed trips, and move or fully refund their travellers. A trip that has already started runs to its end, unless ePoynt support stops it on the road (section 6). Your share of those seats comes back, as for any cancellation (section 7). ePoynt support calls you to tell you why.
- You may end your listing at any time in RidePoynt. From then on, you cannot post a trip, and we cancel each trip with no seat sold. Each trip with a seat sold stays on sale until its cut-off, and must still run, or it counts as a cancellation under section 8. Your listing ends when each of those trips is completed or does not run.
- Until your listing ends, you can keep it: press "Keep my listing" in RidePoynt. You can post trips again at once. Trips we already cancelled stay cancelled.
- Earnings for trips completed before the end are still paid to you.
- If money is still to come back when your listing ends, we send you a payment link on WhatsApp after your last payout. It opens RidePoynt, and you pay through Paystack. Pay it within 14 days.
- To come back later, apply again (section 2). We check your papers, your car and your drivers again. Your strikes still count until they are more than 90 days old.
10. Data
- Your driver sees each traveller's name, phone number, landmarks, any map pin, seat and luggage for your trip, so the driver can find them. If you drive the trip yourself, you see them as its driver. If another driver drives it, you see only the seats sold. Use this information only for that trip. Do not keep it, share it or contact a traveller for any other purpose.
- The driver's view of these details opens at 6:00 p.m. the evening before the trip, when the trip is confirmed, and closes when the trip is completed or ends on the road, or at once when another driver takes the trip over. If ePoynt suspends the driver, it closes at once, except on a trip the driver has already started. Before 6:00 p.m., the driver sees only how many seats are sold.
- The RidePoynt Privacy Notice says what we hold about you and your drivers.
11. Responsibility
- As the carrier, you are responsible for your car, your driver and the safety of your travellers on the journey.
- You must keep your car insured, as section 2 says, and roadworthy for as long as it is listed. Claims for death, injury, loss or damage on a journey go to your insurer.
- You indemnify ePoynt against any claim, loss or cost that arises from your car, your driver, or a journey you provide, except to the extent that ePoynt caused it.
- ePoynt's liability to you is limited to the booking fees ePoynt received from your trips in the three months before the claim arose. Where the law does not allow a limit, for example in a case of fraud, the law applies.
12. Disputes
- Tell us first, at info@epoynt.com or on 0806 154 8208. We reply within 7 days.
- If we cannot settle it within 30 days, either of us may refer it to mediation at the Abuja Multi-Door Courthouse, and then to the courts of the Federal Capital Territory.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
